On September 1, 2001, the United States Postal Services expanded its Holiday Celebrations Series by issuing a stamp honoring the Muslim holiday Eid.

The Eid stamp commemorates the two most important festivals in the Islamic calendar: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. It’s an absolutely beautiful stamp. I hope you’re able to get some before they run out!

The September/October edition of Saudi Aramco World magazine tells the story of how the Eid stamp came to be — starting as the idea of a fifth grade stamp collector.
