In the wake of a number of Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) issues and sexual misconduct complaints Twitch is being proactive with how these are handled, and how their platform is improved for the future.
According to DOT Esports, Twitch is looking for a couple of new highly-experienced executives to join the platform in an effort to combat the issues regarding digital safety and music licensing that have plagued the popular platform.
The report cites two separate job postings made on Greenhouse.io where they are looking for people who have over 10 years of experience to fill the roles of “principal music partnership and licensing manager” and “head of trust and safety.”
Per the job listings, Twitch is seeking an individual who has 10 years of experience in “content moderation operations and policy development for online communities” for the head of trust and safety role.
Regarding the principle music partnership and licensing manager position, the streaming platform is looking to the position and will be tasked to “negotiate strategic partnership deals with key music industry partners.” Due to the complaints, and their increased emphasis on music streams, with the expansion of their music section, Twitch is putting resources into this sector.
Twitch is looking to clean up the content on their platform, as DMCA issues have forced a number of Twitch streams to be yanked due to copyright claims. Furthermore, the recent #TwitchBlackOut brought to light a number of incidents involving misconduct, such as sexual harassment, that has seen a number of prominent streamers banned from the platform permanently.
With the job postings, and the requirements listed, it seems that Twitch wants to bring in an experienced hand, or many, to guide the ship in those respective areas moving forward.
