Twitch Requests Dismissal of James “Phantomlord” Varga Lawsuit

Twitch has requested, via filed paperwork, that the Superior Court of California dismiss the lawsuit between James “Phantomlord” Varga and the platform less than one week after a trial date was finally set, according to Dot Esports’ Richard Lewis.

Twitch has presented a number of arguments as to why they believe that the lawsuit should be dismissed by the courts.

Varga is seeking $35 million in damages in a legal battle that has gone on over a two-year period, while Twitch argues that not only were they within their rights to ban Varga from their platform, but that his activities caused them reputational damages as well.

Twitch have requested that the judge dismiss the case entirely on several legal grounds as trail now is at the phase where parties can submit motions for summary judgements.
