Today marks the final day that Mixer will be in operation, as the once promising brand will bring it’s sudden and surprising streaming platform to a close after today.
Microsoft announced back on June 22nd that it would shutting down Mixer after it’s four-year fight to become a competitive streaming option to Twitch.
During that announcement, Mixer said that they were officially partnering with Facebook Gaming, where a number of their partnered streamers migrated to.
“It became clear that the time needed to grow our own livestreaming community to scale was out of measure with the vision and experiences that Microsoft and Xbox want to deliver for gamers now, so we’ve decided to close the operations side of Mixer and help the community transition to a new platform,” Mixer said in a press release at the time.
Mixer made waves back in 2019 with landmark signings of twitch streamers such as Ninja, Shroud, and others, but could not inch closer in the competitive landscape in the ever-growing and evolving world of streaming.
