In the world of streaming, things can get weird, creepy, and flat out dangerous for female streamers, and in the case of one fan, he taking his “crush” on his favorite streamer to a dangerous level.
Redditor, ‘TA1381′ posted on the forum about his goal of dating a female streamer (who would remain nameless), asking for advice, only to be met with severe backlash for his outlined approach.
‘TA1381′ goes on to say that he doesn’t want to message the female on social media because, as he says, “this girl is out of my league in terms of looks.” Instead, he plans to attempt to receive employment “at vitamin and nutrient stores that I suspect her of going to” bringing this crush to a scary form of obsession and stalking.
People have taken to social media to condemn ‘TA1381”s plan, and take him to task for his warped line of thinking, and scary plan of hunting down his obsession.
The consensus spoke, and they are 100% right, but it also further illuminates a continuing issue in the world of gaming and streaming, a dark side that was publicly exposed earlier this summer due to the SpeakOut movement that saw a number of women, many female streamers, share their experiences of sexual misconduct within the streaming industry.
