God of War Made $131 Million in Digital Revenue In One Month

Sony can’t be anything but elated over the success of God of War, and the numbers show that the game isn’t just a good play, but a massive success.

Back in May, Sony announced that the game, released back in April, sold over 3.1 million units worldwide within 3 days.

“I would like to personally thank the millions of fans around the world who decided to embark on Kratos’ latest adventure with us,” Santa Monica Studio studio head Shannon Studstill said at the time, on the PS Blog. “Your support is truly inspiring, and it’s a reason why we push ourselves every day to go beyond the boundaries of play.

“I’d also like to thank our Creative Director, Cory Barlog, and Director of Product Development, Yumi Yang and our entire amazing team at Santa Monica Studio. The belief in the game’s vision and the passion for storytelling across the team is undeniable. We look forward to hearing more about how fans are creating new memories of their favorite God of War gameplay moments that will be remembered for a long time.”

According to market analysts SuperData, 5 million copies were moved within as month of the game’s release and of that total, 2.1 million were digital.

For fans of the game, this will surely motivate Sony to push for another installment in the near future, so they can continue to capitalize on the massive success.
