Universal Music Group’s EMI Records has officially announced the launch of a brand new label in northern Leeds in Yorkshire, United Kingdom called EMI North and is the first major label to open a physical space within the United Kingdom outside the city of London.
EMI North says they will be dedicated to working with “the very best musical talent in the North of England” and providing opportunities for young people in the industry, and has already established partnerships with two companies based within Leeds: Clue Records and Come Play With Me, a non-profit music development organization.
“Discovering and nurturing new talent from right across the UK is the lifeblood of what we do, and there’s nobody better than Clive to be at the helm of this exciting new chapter for our historic label,” said Charrington and Allen in a joint statement release.
