LEC Winter Split Sees Decrease in Peak Viewership Amid New Format

League of Legends’ inaugural LEC Winter Split has reached it’s conclusion and the event saw a decrease in peak viewership, notching a peak viewership of 572,257, the second-lowest LEC split figure.

Despite that decline, the event recorded higher average viewership compared to the LEC 2022 Spring Split, and according to Esports Charts, the only split that notched a lower peak viewership figure was the competition’s inaugural LEC Spring Split in 2019, garnering 477,666.

Over the weekend, Maximilian Peter Schmidt, Riot Games’ Director of League of Legends Esports in EMEA, celebrated the LEC Winter Split’s viewership successes in a series of posts made on Twitter, stating that that the most important viewership metrics are AMA (average minute audience) and total hours watched which he claimed has increased ~40% compared to Spring 2019.
