November has been one heck of a month for Domain Capital as they started off the month announced that they have obtained $700 million in equity commitments for an entertainment fund, and now they have purchased the catalog of hip-hop artist Ziggy Azalea.
According to Billboard, Azalea sold the catalog for “an eight-figure” sum with Azalea confirming the news herself by responding to tweets from her official Twitter account.
The 32-year old rapper spoke about cashing in on the deal by saying: “I have a larger business I want to invest in” and adding that she now doesn’t “have to work another day.” With companies such as BMG closing in on the purchase of Pink Floyd’s iconic catalog, it seems that business is certainly picking up.
The boom of content creation and live-streaming has helped blossom the music industry, especially with music content creators utilizing platforms such as TikTok to elevate songs to viral status, and boosting the success of underground artists.
