Sony Announces Fortnite Cross-Play

Sony has finally joined the bandwagon and crossplay is now available.

Sony Interactive Entertainment president John Kodera announced that Fortnite players will now, starting today, be able to use their Playstation accounts on PC, Xbox One, Switch, as well as Android and iOS, marking a major milestone in the future of gaming.

“Today, the communities around some games have evolved to the point where cross-platform experiences add significant value to players,” Kodera said.

“In recognition of this, we have completed a thorough analysis of the business mechanics required to ensure that the PlayStation experience for our users remains intact today, and in the future, as we look to open up the platform.

“This represents a major policy change for SIE, and we are now in the planning process across the organisation to support this change.”

It is an open beta launch, which does not currently have an end date, for the feature available to all players, and comes, coincidentally, on the one year anniversary of the Battle Royale mode’s launch.
