Pokemon Go April Community Day Start Times, Details

Alola Pokemon trainers, we are just a couple of days away from this month’s Pokemon Go Community event.

Since January, Pokemon Go has held monthly community events, on a specific day for three hours, to encourage trainers to go outside and catch Pokemon. The event will feature a special Pokemon that, when evolved, will learn an attack previously unavailable for its evolution. There are also bonuses during the event.

On April 15, trainers will have the opportunity to catch flocks of Mareep as this sheep Pokemon will appear more frequently during a three-hour window.

Below is a description of Mareep, Flaaffy and Ampharos from Pokemon.com.

Mareep’s fluffy coat of wool rubs together and builds a static charge. The more static electricity is charged, the more brightly the lightbulb at the tip of its tail glows.

Flaaffy’s wool quality changes so that it can generate a high amount of static electricity with a small amount of wool. The bare and slick parts of its hide are shielded against electricity.

Ampharos gives off so much light that it can be seen even from space. People in the old days used the light of this Pokémon to send signals back and forth with others far away.

Like all electric Pokemon, Mareep and its evolution chain are great to use against water and flying Pokemon.

After trainers acquire 25 candies, Mareep will evolve into Flaaffy, which evolves into Ampharos after 100 candies.

As part of Pokemon day, Mareep who are caught during the three hours will evolve into Ampharos during the three hours will learn the move Dragon Pulse, which is only known to a handful of dragon Pokemon.

Although Pokemon.com nor Niantic have not confirmed this, trainers have the opportunity to catch shiny Pokemon. All prior Community Day events have featured shiny Pokemon.

Besides catching Mareep, trainers will have the chance to hatch eggs four times as fast during the three hours.

For example, when a trainer is using an incubator for a 10KM egg, it will hatch after walking 2.5 KM. Lure modules will remain active for three hours as well.

Below are the start up times for different regions.

  • The Americas: April 15, 2018, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PDT
  • The Asia-Pacific region: April 15, 2018, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. JST
  • Europe, the Middle East, and Africa: April 15, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. UTC

In addition to Community Day, trainers can still participate in Pokemon Go’s Kanto event until April 17.

With the debut of Mew, Pokemon Go is currently holding an event where trainers can catch Pokemon native to the Kanto region – Pokedex No. 1-149.

Trainers will be able to earn double candy from all actions – catching Pokemon and transferring them to Professor Willow.

Pokemon like Aerodactyl, Snorlax and other rare Kanto Pokemon will appear in raids.

Trainers who catch 100 Pokemon from the Kanto dex will earn a gold medal, which is part of the Special Research quest to encounter Mew.
