Twitch has rolled out a new controversial feature that allows banned viewers to submit an appeal to get back into chat. Streamers have been vocal about their feelings regarding the new feature, and it hasn’t been as positive as Twitch may have been hoping.
? Hey Mods!
We’ve added a widget in Mod View that lets you manage unban requests. Channel banned users can submit an appeal through the Chat column, which you can review and take action on, anonymously.
We’ll be bringing the ability to send unban requests to mobile soon! pic.twitter.com/C79dN68YCc

Many twitch streamers correctly point out that the system allows for further harassment and toxicity that they have worked hard to get rid of, adding that trolls often attack in droves.
While the feature can certainly be useful in the rare situation that someone is accidentally, or wrongfully, banned this seems to open the door for continued harassment and toxicity more than adding something to combat it.
Many streamers also posed the question as to why this feature was even needed, saying that people that were banned were banned for a specific reason.
Other streamers pointed out that this is just another way for people who are banned from a specific channel to continue to harass the channel.
