It appears that Pokemon cards, either opening them or destroying them, is the new fad on Twitch, and Mizkif is just the latest twitch streamer to experience the boom.
According to DotEsports’ Max Micelli, Mizkif set a personal viewership record peaking out at more than 110,000 viewers, adding more popularity to his already popular channel.
The thrill of opening up Pokemon cards is viable, as there are rare expensive cards that could be valued at over $100,000 if they are in good condition.
For his stream, Mizkif was hoping to get his hands on a foil Lugia or Typhlosion.
“If I don’t get those two cards in this box, almost every other card is considered worthless,” Mizkif said. “If I do not get the Lugia, if I do not get the Typhlosion, I am down $70,000. It’s all up to this box. We’re going to open it today. Chat this is so dumb.”
Mizkif eventually pulled the coveted Lugia card, which could fetch some serious money as a PSA 10 Lugia First Edition Neo Genesis holographic card is listed on Ebay for $150,000, per the report.
Mizkif already notched a big win with his stream, as his viewership peaked at 110,172, according to Twitch stat tracker SullyGnome. That number is critical for platforms, not just Twitch, as even a sports talk app can see considerable revenue with viewership such as that.
