Despite some heavy marketing and promotion via a number of popular streamers, Ubisoft’s new battle royale Hyper Scape is having a tough time gaining traction on Twitch.
According to The Verge, Hyper Scape clocked over 240,000 followers and just 11,000 viewers as of their report yesterday afternoon, which considering their promotional efforts, isn’t too strong.
Additionally, Ubisoft had announced a special integration of the game for Twitch, which would allow viewers to decide random map events that would impact a streamer’s active match, adding a layer of inter-activeness and creativity.
The integration would also allow streamers to set up and play in matches with their viewers instantaneously.
While Hyper Scape may not be meeting expectations, it can be partly attributed to to a market saturated with battle royale games.
We’ll see what Ubisoft does next, but they will need to come up with something to help get their new game back on the right track in the world of streaming.
