Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has made quite the impact with her twitch channel and popular twitch streams, and her efforts just made a positive impact as the world continues to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
According to CNET, Ocasio-Cortez returned to the streaming platform on Friday and livestreamed Among Us, raising $200,000 for people in need during the pandemic.
Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to celebrate afterwards: “$200k raised in one livestream (on a whim!) for eviction defense, food pantries, and more. This is going to make such a difference for those who need it most right now. Thank you all.”
Ocasio-Cortez has been leveraging Twitch to encourage people to vote, raise awareness, and to also help those in need.
It’s clear she will be using Twitch in the future, and will likely lead to a new generation of politicians taking to the platform to help connect with people.
