FuboTV, the sports streaming platform which is fighting against the news that Disney, Warners, and Fox Sports are launching a joint venture for sports streams in the future, saw their subscriber numbers from from 1.51 million in Q1 to 1.45 million in Q2, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
FuboTV’s subscriber count, despite the dip over the first two quarters, was up 24% from a year ago, where the clocked 1.16 million.
Additionally, FuboTV ended the second quarter with overall revenue up 26% to $382.7 million which beat analyst estimations of $368.3 million in Q2 revenue, but saw a net loss of $25.8 million which is down from last year’s loss of $54.2 million.
Fubo has brought a lawsuit against The Walt Disney Co., Fox Corp. and Warner Bros. Discovery in an attempt to block the sports streaming joint venture with a pivotal hearing kicking off this past Tuesday. Fubo has sought a preliminary injunction against the proposed rival sports streaming platform in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York.
“We continue to fight for competition and better prices in a market in disruption, contrasting with the Walt Disney Company, Fox Corp. and Warner Bros. Discovery” Fubo CEO David Gandler said in prepared remarks, per the report. “The JV claims to solve the issue of bulky cable bundles, but we believe its primary goal is to limit competition, boosting partners’ profits synthetically and leading to steep price hikes for consumers.”
