Taylor Swift has had an incredible 2023, with new music and a high-profile relationship with Kansas City Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce, but the 2023 ended with a major boom as Swift accomplished quite the feat.
According to Deadline, Swift now holds the record for most weeks for a solo artist at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, passing none other than the ‘King of Rock and Roll’ Elvis Presley in the process.
1989 (Taylor’s Version) topped the ranking this week which game Swift 68 weeks atop the album chart and officially pushing the music icon past Presley.
Swift’s year ends with another impressive feat highlighted by Taylor Swift The Eras Tour becoming the highest grossing concert film of all time, racking up and astronomical number with over $250 million worldwide, and The Eras Tour itself was the highest-grossing music event of the year.
Swift is also now a billionaire.
The Beatles have more weeks at No. 1 than Swift, clocking 132 weeks on top across 19 No. 1 albums from 1964-2001, according to USA Today. While Swift’s year has been iconic, it will be a much bigger feat to challenge, let alone overtake the Beatles for the top spot. The Beatles are also a band, where Swift is a solo artist.
According to Y! Entertainment, other solo artists in the realm of such accomplishments are Garth Brookes (52 weeks), Michael Jackson (51 weeks), Whitney Houston (46 weeks), Adele (40 weeks), and Elton John (39 weeks).
