Gamescom 2023 Sees Impressive Turnout

Gamescom 2023 is celebrating another successful event and a notable uptick in the overall attendance for this year’s event that saw 320,000 in-person visitors from over 100 countries last week, organizers announced.

To compare to Gamescom 2022, last year’s event saw more than 265,00 people visiting.

Cologne’s Koelnmesse saw 1,227 exhibitors from 63 countries, 76% of them were from aboard while trade visitors attendees numbered 31,000; 50% of them were foreign exhibitors which was on par with numbers from 2022.

The event saw impressive digital numbers, including on video game streaming platform, which saw a total of 180 million viewers that included around 20 million for the Opening Night Live hosted by Geoff Keighley.

“As anticipated by the impressive records for exhibitor count, floor space, and international participation, it has now been confirmed at the end of the event – Gamescom is and remains the world’s biggest gaming event” Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse said, according to GamesIndustry.biz.

“…And for the first time, companies like NetEase were represented in our entertainment area with a stand. All of this underscores the international significance of Gamescom and the attractiveness of Cologne as a location.”

Gamescom 2024 is scheduled for August 21st, 2024 and will run through August 25th, 2024.
