We were fortunate to be invited to a cocktail reception in San Francisco featuring food and wine from the Province of Salerno. Award-winning writer and broadcaster Marlena Spieler was the group’s American spokesperson.
We enjoyed fresh buffalo mozzarella, lush San Marzano tomatoes, Controne’s extra virgin olive oil, Cetara’s tangy, salty anchovy sauce, and the delicious wines of Castel San Lorenzo. Marlena’s account of her culinary adventures in Italy made us want to run home and get our passports in order!
It also inspired us to pre-order her latest book, The Jewish Traditions Cookbook. It’s a treasure of a book, including such Middle Eastern favorites as Falafel, Kofta Kebabs, Baba Ghanoush, Tabbouleh, and well, we’ll tell you more when it arrives!
